School Custodial Cleaner

About The Position

The School Custodial Cleaner performs general cleaning and upkeep of assigned areas in a K-12 school, college, or university campus environment. Duties may cover classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, food areas, and other designated spaces. The role includes routine cleaning as well as top-to-bottom cleanup, and training is provided. Candidates should be reliable, positive, self-motivated, able to take direction, and able to carry 50 pounds. The position requires availability Monday through Friday and pays $12.00 per hour. It may suit someone entering or returning to the workforce with limited experience or education. ABM encourages veterans and candidates with military experience to apply.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Able to carry 50 pounds.
Available to work Monday through Friday.
Able to take direction well.
No prior experience required; on-the-job training is provided.
No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required.

Nice To Haves

Prior customer service experience.
One year of prior similar work experience.
Military or veteran experience is encouraged.

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
Check trash receptacles regularly and empty them as needed.
Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Notify the lead cleaner or manager about needed minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into appropriate receptacles.
Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
Polish hard surfaces, such as woodwork and stainless steel.
Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas manually or with hand trucks.
Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using cleaning solutions, sponges, and squeegees.
Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
Clean and polish restrooms as needed.
Comply with company, client, and regulatory safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures.
