About The Position

The School Custodial Cleaner performs general cleaning and maintenance duties in assigned areas of a K–12 school, college, or university campus. Duties may involve classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, food areas, and outdoor walks. The role follows company, client, and regulatory safety, security, compliance, and quality standards. On-the-job training is provided; no prior experience or formal education is required. The listed pay is $14.50 per hour. The available schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package, with details available through its employee benefits information for front-line team members.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
No experience is required; on-the-job training is provided.
No high school diploma, GED, or college degree is required.

Nice To Haves

Prior customer service experience.
One year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
Sweep floors, remove debris, clean spills, and mop designated areas.
Check trash receptacles regularly and empty them as needed.
Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Notify the lead cleaner or manager when minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed.
Maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
Polish hard surfaces, including woodwork and stainless steel surfaces.
Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas manually or with hand trucks.
Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
Maintain restroom cleanliness and polish restroom surfaces as needed.
Comply with company, client, and regulatory safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures.
