About The Position

ABM is seeking a reliable and experienced School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K–12 school, college, or university campus. The position pays $19.05 per hour; a specific offer may vary based on the applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data. No experience or diploma is required, and on-the-job training is provided. This role may suit someone entering or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• No experience required; on-the-job training is provided.
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required.

Nice To Haves

• Prior customer service experience.
• One year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Check trash receptacles regularly and empty them as needed.
• Use chemical cleaners and power equipment according to procedures to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify the lead cleaner or manager when minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed.
• Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, manually or using hand trucks.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness, cleaning and polishing as needed.
• Comply with safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the company, clients, and regulatory authorities.
