About The Position

ABM is seeking a reliable School Custodial Cleaner to perform general cleaning duties in assigned areas at a K–12 school, college, or university campus. No prior experience or formal education is required; on-the-job training is provided. The position is suitable for someone entering or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education. Veterans and candidates with military experience are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• No prior experience required; on-the-job training is provided.
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required.

Nice To Haves

• Prior customer service experience.
• One year of prior similar work experience.
• Military or veteran experience is encouraged; listed Military Occupational Specialty Codes include 92S, 92Y, LS, 3051, and 3F1X1.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep and remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Check trash receptacles regularly and empty them as needed.
• Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify a lead cleaner or manager when minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed.
• Maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas manually or with hand trucks.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning materials and tools.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
• Maintain clean restrooms, including polishing as needed.
• Comply with company, client, and regulatory safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures.
