About The Position

ABM is seeking a reliable and experienced School Custodial Cleaner to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas of a K–12 school, college, or university campus environment. The role includes maintaining classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, and other assigned areas, along with carrying out interior and seasonal outdoor cleaning tasks. On-the-job training is provided, and no prior experience or high school diploma, GED, or college degree is required. The role may be suitable for someone entering or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• No experience required; on-the-job training is provided.
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required.

Nice To Haves

• Prior customer service experience.
• One year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Check trash receptacles regularly and empty them as needed.
• Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify the lead cleaner or manager when minor or major repairs, or additions to building operating systems, are needed.
• Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel surfaces.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas manually or using hand trucks.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness, including cleaning and polishing as needed.
• Comply with safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the company, clients, and regulatory authorities.
