The School Crossing Guard position is responsible for ensuring the safety of students crossing the street. This role involves holding up a "STOP" sign to halt traffic, reporting any safety concerns or incidents to school authorities, and documenting vehicles that disregard the crossing guard's signals. The crossing guard will also assist students who are lost or in need of help and must adhere to all regulations for student crossings. The position pays $13.73 per hour and is compensated for four hours per day when school is in session. Crossing guards receive one sick day per month and four paid holidays. All crossing guards are paid bi-weekly. Candidates will undergo an in-person interview, background investigation, criminal history check, and previous employer contact. Upon hiring, a physical examination, audiogram, and drug screen will be conducted at the department's expense. Training will be provided before assuming the role.
