About The Position

Kansas Central School Bus is hiring Bus Drivers to safely transport students and other passengers in multiple types of vehicles. Drivers may operate regular routes as regular, spare, or charter drivers. The role involves interacting with students, parents, and school personnel, and supporting student safety throughout each trip. The position offers part-time hours, time off during school holidays, and no required nights or weekends. Free CDL training is available; no prior experience is necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Possess or be able to obtain a CDL Operator’s license with required endorsements.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Possess a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.
Pass a background check and drug test.
Good verbal communication skills.
Ability to work early morning hours.
Ability to work without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

Safely transport passengers in multiple types of vehicles, including vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
Drive a regular route as a regular, spare, or charter driver.
Read and understand street signs, route sheets, and maps.
Complete pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, including child checks.
Assist students with loading and unloading.
Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students.
Attend safety and training meetings.
Conduct emergency bus evacuations, including exiting through the emergency door.
Open and close service doors.
Move up and down steps multiple times daily.
Clean the inside of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
Clean the outside windows of the bus.
Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
