About The Position

Westover Job Corps Center is seeking a dependable and safety-minded Class B CDL Bus Driver to join our team. This role offers an opportunity to do more than provide transportation—you'll play an important part in supporting young adults as they prepare for successful careers and independent living. As a member of our team, you will help ensure students arrive safely at appointments, activities, and events while serving as a positive role model and contributing to a supportive learning environment. The Class B CDL Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from off-center appointments, activities, and events. This position helps support student success by providing reliable transportation services and promoting a safe, professional, and positive experience for all passengers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement, or the ability to obtain and maintain required licensing.
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety, inspection, and maintenance practices.
  • Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in various situations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of young adults.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year of experience driving passenger vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport students to and from appointments, educational activities, and other approved destinations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation.
  • Monitor vehicle condition and report maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records, including mileage, fuel usage, passenger counts, and trip logs.
  • Comply with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and center policies.
  • Inspect tires, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, fluids, and safety equipment before operating vehicles.
  • Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, safe, and ready for use.
  • Report vehicle malfunctions or maintenance concerns in a timely manner.
  • Follow all transportation and safety procedures.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students.
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating responsibility, respect, and professionalism.
  • Help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment during transportation activities.
  • Encourage positive behavior and reinforce center expectations.
