About The Position

NORY is seeking passionate and experienced Site Leaders for their upcoming School Break Day Camps in NYC. The role involves inspiring and supporting educators, showing care to campers, providing excellent customer support to parents, and guiding staff. School Break Day Camps occur on select school closure days throughout the year, offering flexible leadership opportunities for experienced educational leaders. This role provides professional development in leadership, training in diverse STEM topics (robotics, coding, woodworking), opportunities to build professional relationships, and a pathway to continued involvement with NORY. NORY is the premier STEM camp provider in NYC and Boston, aiming to shape future leaders, innovators, and problem solvers. They offer a magical and transformative experience akin to the 'Disney World of STEM education' with over 4,000 campers annually across 10+ locations.

Requirements

  • Experience managing and coaching a team of 4+ teachers and fostering a positive team environment.
  • A track record of building strong relationships with families in a camp or educational setting.
  • More than 4 years of experience, preferred, teaching children ages 3 to 13 in any subject or discipline, preferably with a focus on STEM.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and a willingness to learn and adopt new technology and skills.
  • Availability for upcoming camp dates.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior STEM experience is not required, as comprehensive training is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned group of campers with engaging activities that bring NORY’s core values to life, inspiring curiosity and enthusiasm.
  • Mentor and develop teaching staff, ensuring they understand the purpose behind each activity and properly implement protocols for a fun and safe camp environment.
  • Build nurturing and supportive relationships with NORY campers and their families to enhance the camp experience.
  • Efficiently oversee and manage essential resources for camp success, including materials, facilities, and daily schedules.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date administrative records for all aspects of camp operations and compliance.
