About The Position

MAHEC is seeking candidates for School Based Therapists to serve Haywood County Schools. This is a full-time, 11-month position with July off, eligible for MAHEC's Total Rewards package. The role involves providing outpatient mental health treatment in an assigned school setting, meeting clinical benchmarks, ensuring proper care according to program contracts, and fiscal responsibility. Therapists work onsite in one or more schools within their assigned district, with a current high need for elementary-aged students.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mental Health, Counseling, or Social Work.
  • Qualifying licensure: LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor), OR Doctoral Level Psychologist (PhD, PsyD).
  • Provisional license allowed.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database applications.
  • Regular attendance on-site at assigned schools is an essential function.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish/English language skills preferred.
  • Some positions may require a primary focus on crisis assessment in the school setting.
  • Open to considering Associate Licensed therapists, but full licensure strongly preferred.
  • LCAS (Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy to clients using approved clinical models and modalities.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, trauma-screenings, threat assessments, and comprehensive crisis plans.
  • Incorporate internal and external collateral information into case conceptualization and treatment planning.
  • Participate in program and activity planning related to therapeutic activities and treatment.
  • Participate in treatment planning and implementation, including clinical service teams, linking/referring clients/families to services, and other programming.
  • Provide support and training to clients and staff on behavioral strategies and interventions using evidenced-based models.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call crisis support.
  • Complete required documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, service authorization requests, and clinical intakes within specified time frames.
  • Submit clinical assessments, addendums, transfer documentation, conference notes, and discharge paperwork within designated time frames.
  • Participate in clinical staffing, monthly administrative meetings, and supervision.
