About The Position

Join our compassionate and collaborative team as a School Based Navigator, where you will play a vital role in connecting students and families to timely, effective behavioral health services. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by serving as a trusted liaison between schools, families, and internal care teams while supporting access to care, service coordination, and continuity of treatment. If you are organized, compassionate, and motivated by helping children and families navigate systems of care, this role allows you to contribute directly to student wellbeing and long‑term success within a mission‑driven organization. In this role, you will coordinate referrals, support intake and insurance processes, manage documentation, and collaborate with school‑based therapists, internal departments, and community partners to ensure students receive appropriate services in a timely and compliant manner. You will also assist with administrative coordination, crisis linkage, and ongoing support to maintain access to care throughout treatment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with relevant experience considered
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, school personnel, and internal teams
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and time‑management skills
  • Proficiency with electronic records systems and telephonic engagement
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to coordinate support services
  • Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, finger, and arm movements for typing and documentation
  • Ability to sit for extended periods with occasional walking or standing
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of a sedentary work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related human services field preferred
  • Knowledge of mental health systems and school‑based service models preferred

Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to student referrals from assigned schools within required timelines
  • Initiate contact with families to begin intake processes and gather required documentation
  • Assist families with Medicaid eligibility screening, applications, and private insurance verification
  • Screen for alternative funding sources as needed to support access to services
  • Schedule intake appointments with school‑based therapists or route referrals to appropriate access points
  • Ensure intake, compliance, and consent documentation is completed accurately and filed electronically
  • Collaborate with Billing, Health Information Management (HIM), and Quality teams to complete non‑billable regulatory tasks
  • Provide administrative support by answering calls, documenting non‑billable contacts, and maintaining accurate records
  • Conduct ongoing insurance checks and support paperwork updates to maintain service eligibility
  • Coordinate with schools and community agencies to connect families to resources and crisis services when indicated
  • Adhere to organizational privacy, confidentiality, security, and ethical standards at all times
  • Follow Operational Guidelines and contribute to program quality and CARF‑aligned standards
  • Participate in required trainings, team meetings, and continuous improvement activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
