About The Position

The School‑Based Services team provides behavioral health support directly within partnered schools, offering accessible, trauma‑informed care to students who may be struggling with mental health, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Our mission is to meet students where they are, reduce barriers to care, and collaborate with educators and families to support academic success, emotional well‑being, and long‑term stability. As part of Eskenazi Health’s Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), our team is committed to delivering integrated, evidence-based treatment rooted in the Recovery Model. As a Licensed Clinician – School-Based (CCBHC), you will provide individual, family, and group therapeutic interventions using evidence‑based practices (EBPs) with fidelity to treatment models. You will manage a caseload of students, identify their therapeutic and case management needs, and work closely with school staff, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate the right supports at the right time. A key aspect of this role includes building strong relationships with students, families, educators, and clinical partners. You will conduct assessments, create treatment plans, deliver therapy within the school environment, and intervene during times of crisis. Your work ensures students have personalized, strengths‑based care that promotes their academic, social, and emotional well‑being. You will also support ongoing care coordination, skill development, and safety planning while maintaining adherence to CCBHC requirements.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a behavioral health or human services field meeting Indiana licensure requirements for: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
  • Active and unencumbered Indiana clinical licensure (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC).
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license meeting Eskenazi Health driving policy requirements.
  • Advanced understanding of evidence‑based practices.
  • Ability to implement EBPs to fidelity and work within a strengths‑based, person‑centered model.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and addiction diagnoses and their impact on functioning.
  • Ability to build rapport with youth, families, and school staff.
  • Understanding of psychopharmacology and the side effects of medications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Understanding of community resources and referral pathways.
  • Ability to interpret policies, regulations, and safety directives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapeutic interventions using evidence-based practices (EBPs) with fidelity to treatment models.
  • Manage a caseload of students, identify their therapeutic and case management needs.
  • Work closely with school staff, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate the right supports at the right time.
  • Conduct assessments and create treatment plans.
  • Deliver therapy within the school environment and intervene during times of crisis.
  • Support ongoing care coordination, skill development, and safety planning.
  • Maintain adherence to CCBHC requirements.
  • Embrace, understand, and operate under the Recovery Model, including AIDET and the spirit of motivational interviewing.
  • Adhere to the regulatory requirements for CCBHC regarding client treatment, including crisis prevention planning and crisis safety planning.
  • Prepare clinical treatment plans and complete biopsychosocial evaluation (“BPSE”), integrating information gathered by the team and developing the integrated diagnostic summary based upon the BPSE and in consultation with the client, family, treatment team.
  • Engage other team members in meeting client needs as indicated.
  • Provide quality case management services as indicated by client need.
  • Monitor client progress and reflect this in the clinical documentation.
  • Perform a variety of individual, family and group EBP therapeutic interventions utilizing EBPs specific to CCBHC certification.
  • Evaluate and update the treatment plan at intervals determined by guidelines, consulting with client family and team in this process.
  • May provide care coordination, skills training and development to clients in group and individual settings as guided by medical necessity outlined in the person-centered treatment.
  • Provide crisis management and emergency interventions including but not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and approved area-specific crisis intervention techniques.
  • Report to treatment team in staffing including but not limited to successes and challenges, assessment of client progress, barriers to success, any level of care changes, etc.
  • Advocate for clients to ensure access to needed services which include developing community relationships and resources.
  • Meet the agency’s standard of providing the appropriate service at the right time, right place, and right frequency as determined by the client’s level of need.
  • Meet the agency’s standard of timely completion of all documentation including interpreting and applying service and billing procedures according to client needs as well as completing billing according to guidelines for timeliness and accuracy.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for less experienced staff.
  • Establish and maintain a safe environment at all times through on-going assessment of milieu/appointment environment and intervenes as indicated in person-centered treatment plan as well as by nursing or physician order.
  • Identify any high-risk client symptoms or circumstances that would result in risk for self-harm or harm to others and notifies appropriate higher level clinical staff for consultation.
  • Continuously evaluate clients' mental status, reporting progress to the team and treating psychiatrist.
  • Identify community resources and assist clients in their access to these resources.
  • Meet agency requirements for continuing education.
