About The Position

This role involves providing direct and indirect services to children and families within a school setting. The primary focus is on conducting psychosocial assessments, providing counseling, and offering school consultation services to support student mental health and classroom management. The position requires adherence to agency policies, documentation standards, and collaboration with other professionals.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and skills in the needs of and identification of, abused and neglected children; child development and individual and family functioning.
  • Ability to reasonably problem solve complex and possible crisis mental health client problems.
  • Ability to develop and write clear concise documents involving client outcome reporting requirements.
  • Effective time management and interviewing skills.
  • Awareness of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation) if applicable.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work.
  • State of Ohio LSW/LPC/LPCC/ LISW Licensure status or a licensed psychologist in Ohio.
  • Experience in the treatment of children, adolescents and families. Individually and/ or in group services.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and complete psychosocial intake diagnostic assessments with children and families.
  • Counsel clients after selecting therapeutic approach to use with individuals, families and/or groups with clearly established measurable goals/ objectives, frequency, intensity, location and duration of treatment written on ISP.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions in the school and engage in family summer time to continue treatment: effect improved mental health adjustments, aid clients to mobilize inner strengths and environment/social resources to improve social functioning and serve hard to reach resistant clients and families.
  • May provide school consultation services.
  • Communicate with school personnel and provide input to successful classroom management as needed.
  • CPST responsibility as needed.
  • Adheres to agency personnel policy and procedures, ODMHAS/CARF standards and fulfills documentation, reporting and productivity requirements.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, workshops and supervision.
  • Collaboration with other professionals for the clients’ mental health needs.
  • Maintains minimum required Ohio licensure status.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
