About The Position

Effective School Solutions (ESS) is seeking a Leave Replacement Behavioral Specialist in the Paulsboro district. This role is responsible for direct client care, including in-classroom support, crisis management and de-escalation, observation and data collection, construction and implementation of behavioral intervention plans, and individual and group behavioral skill learning sessions. The Behavioral Specialist also assists with classroom management, best practice structuring, and staff behavioral training/coaching when required. ESS is a leading provider of school-based mental health services for K-12 students, offering higher acuity clinical care within public-school buildings.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis or related degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a school or mental health setting, preferably with children and adolescents ages 5-18.
  • Experience and knowledge of mental illness treatment with highly acute children and adolescents and continuum of care (crisis management experience strongly preferred).
  • Experience and knowledge of behavioral data collection and analysis, creation of behavioral intervention plans, and real-time implementation of those interventions and plans.
  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience working with students and families, as well as community health and social services agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Behavioral Therapist, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and deliver trauma-attuned behavioral interventions consistent with needs of the student in a safe and ethical manner that promote and sustain academic and mental health stability.
  • Observe and collect frequency, intensity, and duration behavioral data and analyze to report and share with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist students with activities of daily school day; attends to student behavioral needs and provide assistance in de-escalation and crisis intervention, as needed.
  • Work with other members of the ESS/classroom multi-disciplinary team in leading/assisting student activities and groups.
  • Understand and follow and help create classroom management protocols and daily schedules.
  • Understand continuum of mental health services within the school environment and greater community supports.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Develop strong working relationships with school/District leadership, teachers and paraprofessionals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and strong professional boundaries.
  • Participate in all ESS team training and meetings.
  • Document student observations, following prescribed procedures and standards.
