About The Position
AHRC New York City is seeking a School Aide for the AHRC Middle/HS in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. This is a part-time/per-diem position with hours from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. The role operates within a 10-month program with an additional 30-day summer session.
Requirements
- HS Diploma required.

- Candidates with experience working with students with disabilities are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Teacher/Behavior Trainer, follow the daily activity schedule/lesson plans and support and guide the implementation of a student’s objectives as indicated in his/her IEP.
- Provide direct care services to student as needed, including toileting, dressing and feeding, in an instructional manner so as to provide the basis of future independent student action.
- Participate in the arrival and dismissal of student as needed.
- Participate in activities outside the classroom when necessary (e.g. playground, field trips, gym etc.); interact with the student; and address the student’s safety and physical needs.
- Understand the nature of the student’s disability and its impact on the student’s performance; be familiar with the student’s IEP objectives including the educational purpose and methodology; be familiar with the student’s medical alerts and EPOP (Enhanced Protective Oversight Plan).
