SCHOOL AGE YOUTH TEACHER
About The Position
As a teacher for the Skagit YMCA School Age Youth program you will be creating meaningful learning experiences for children that focus on building self esteem through educational achievement and belonging. Requirements
- Be a minimum of 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or a GED
- Must have child development knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Must have a TB Test by Mantoux method, HIV/AIDS/BBP awareness, and Food Handler’s Permit prior to start
- First Aid, Pediatric CPR/AED, Child Abuse and Mandatory Reporting training, and a DCYF portable background clearance within 30 days of hire
- Complete STARS basic 30-hour training or educational exemption within 6 months of hire
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children 5-12 years of age preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop a positive environment for children, parents, and staff
- Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental needs of children and families
- Be a positive role model demonstrates good judgment, and abide by program rules
- Supervise and assure proper safety for a group of children
