About The Position

The Learning Experience – Gaithersburg is seeking an energetic and dependable School Age Teacher to support our growing before- and after-school program. This role is ideal for educators who enjoy working with elementary-aged children by creating a safe, engaging environment that balances homework support, enrichment activities, and active play. As a School Age Teacher, you'll help children continue learning beyond the school day while fostering confidence, independence, and positive social relationships.

Requirements

Must meet Maryland Office of Child Care qualifications for a School Age Teacher
Previous experience working with school-age children in a childcare, camp, school, or after-school program preferred
Strong communication, leadership, and classroom management skills
Positive, dependable, and team-oriented attitude
CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Responsibilities

Supervise and engage school-age children in a safe, structured environment
Plan and lead age-appropriate enrichment activities, games, STEM projects, arts and crafts, and outdoor play
Assist children with homework and encourage independent learning habits
Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow educators
Ensure accurate attendance and maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios
Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
Follow all Maryland Office of Child Care (OCC) licensing regulations and center policies
Collaborate with center leadership to provide a high-quality program for families
