About The Position

The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is looking for a School Age Child Care Lead Staff member to help create a fun, safe, and engaging after-school experience for children ages 5-13. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with youth and wants to have a meaningful impact in their community. As a Lead Staff member, you'll be a mentor, role model, activity coordinator, problem solver, and cheerleader all rolled into one! You'll help plan and lead a variety of educational, recreational, and enrichment activities while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for every child.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree and three months of experience working with school-age children
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and six months of experience working with school-age children, including three months of supervised experience in a school-age childcare program
  • Nine months of experience working with school-age children, including three months of supervised experience in a school-age childcare program
  • Confidence providing academic support and homework assistance
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of group dynamics and youth leadership
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities
  • Successfully complete Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check
  • Successfully complete National background check
  • Successfully complete Fingerprinting process in accordance with EEC regulations

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate programs and activities
  • Creating a positive and engaging after-school environment
  • Supporting children's social, emotional, and academic development
  • Ensuring compliance with EEC regulations and Club policies
  • Providing homework and academic support when needed
  • Utilizing technology and remote learning tools to support participants
  • Communicating effectively with parents, caregivers, and fellow staff
  • Assisting with special events, programs, and Club initiatives
  • Performing light cleaning and maintaining organized program spaces
  • Contributing wherever needed to help the Club succeed
