About The Position

The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is seeking a School Age Child Care Lead Staff member to create a fun, safe, and engaging after-school experience for children ages 5-13. This is a part-time, year-round position with a predictable weekday schedule. The role involves planning and leading activities, supporting children's development, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to the overall success of the Club. The ideal candidate is energetic, reliable, organized, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree and three months of experience working with school-age children; OR
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and six months of experience working with school-age children, including three months of supervised experience in a school-age childcare program; OR
  • Nine months of experience working with school-age children, including three months of supervised experience in a school-age childcare program
  • Confidence providing academic support and homework assistance
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of group dynamics and youth leadership
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities
  • Must successfully complete a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check, national background check, and fingerprinting process.

  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Responsibilities

  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate programs and activities
  • Creating a positive and engaging after-school environment
  • Supporting children's social, emotional, and academic development
  • Ensuring compliance with EEC regulations and Club policies
  • Providing homework and academic support when needed
  • Utilizing technology and remote learning tools to support participants
  • Communicating effectively with parents, caregivers, and fellow staff
  • Assisting with special events, programs, and Club initiatives
  • Performing light cleaning and maintaining organized program spaces
  • Contributing wherever needed to help the Club succeed
