About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Toledo is seeking a Part-Time Summer/Seasonal School Age Child Care Lead Teacher to make a meaningful impact while having fun. This role involves planning and implementing lesson plans, leading children on weekly field trips, supervising activities like archery, canoeing, and fishing, and ensuring safety during swimming. The Lead Teacher will also build relationships with students and their families, communicate daily with parents, facilitate games, and serve as a positive role model. Responsibilities include serving snacks and lunches, light cleaning, and keeping the group on schedule. Shifts are typically flexible, with staff expecting 28-35 hours per week, and availability Monday-Friday is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior, and developmentally appropriate practices.
Enrollment in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Prevention of Infectious Diseases training (covered by the YMCA).
Warm and friendly personality with a willingness to interact with children.
Meet DCY licensing qualifications in training and background check.

Nice To Haves

Prior School Age classroom/child care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement lesson plans and hands-on learning activities.
Lead groups through weekly field trips and ensure child supervision.
Supervise children during camp activities such as archery, canoeing, and fishing.
Supervise children during free swim and swim lessons or be on deck to ensure safety.
Build relationships with students and their families.
Send out daily parent communication and reminders.
Play games, help children build friendships, and be a positive role model.
Serve snacks and lunches.
Perform light cleaning to maintain a clean and inviting space.
Keep the group on task and aligned with the daily schedule.
