About The Position

As a School Age Counselor at Countryside YMCA, you will help create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. The role involves leading activities and building meaningful relationships, playing an important part in shaping each child’s day. Countryside YMCA aims to strengthen community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Requirements

A team player who communicates openly and positively
A strong commitment to child abuse prevention
Someone who enjoys working with children and can build strong, supportive relationships
Ability to guide behavior through positive reinforcement and redirection
A role model who demonstrates caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility every day
High School Diploma or equivalent
CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
Ability to pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

Help plan and lead fun, developmentally appropriate activities in a classroom setting
Create a safe, welcoming environment for all children
Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff
Maintain accurate attendance and child records
Follow YMCA policies, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services requirements, Step Up to Quality standards, and the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines
Respond appropriately in emergency situations to ensure safety at all times
Help maintain classroom supplies, equipment, and organization
Model respect for others and YMCA property
