About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring School Age Childcare Staff for our Before and After School Programs at Marian E. McKeown Elementary School in Newton, NJ for the 2026–2027 school year. This position is part-time and follows the school calendar, with opportunities available for morning (7:00 - 8:15 am), afternoon (3:00 - 6:00 pm), or both programs. The role is ideal for parents seeking a schedule aligned with the school day, education majors looking for hands-on experience, or retirees who enjoy mentoring children. The position involves facilitating activities, providing a safe environment, and adhering to state and program guidelines. Some roles may include management functions like attendance tracking and registration.

Requirements

• High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required
• Candidates must successfully pass all required state background checks.
• Requires the ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
• The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues, along with a consistent record of reliability and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Providing a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observing state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing (for certain positions).
