About The Position

The Lansdowne YMCA is seeking energetic, caring, and committed Out-of-School Time (OST) Staff for their Before and Aftercare program at Aronimink Elementary. This role involves creating engaging activities, from morning brain-boosters to afternoon games and creative projects, in a safe, inclusive, and community-focused environment. The YMCA believes children learn best through play and socialization, and this position offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on youth development. The role is part-time, with varying shifts Monday through Friday, including Morning Care (7:30-8:30 am) and After Care (2:45-6:00 pm).

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years (2500 hours) documented experience working with children.
  • Strong Leadership and Communication Skills.
  • A commitment to continuous quality program improvements.
  • Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED and Pediatric First Aid within 15 days of hire.
  • Completion of required trainings. Attaining all trainings as required by the Community YMCA, the center’s Keystone STARS level and DHS within the required timeframe.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred CDA, Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related human services field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and evaluating the daily operations of the Child Care classroom in conjunction with the Child Care Parent Handbook and Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Uphold the YMCA Mission, focusing on the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.
  • Plan, implement, assess, and evaluate daily classroom operations using the current PA Early Learning Standards, child needs, and assessments.
  • Offer activities that meet the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development of each individual child, establishing goals and maintaining child portfolios while implementing culturally diverse experiences.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all children on a daily basis, ensuring the classroom and outdoor areas are well supervised and in good condition.
  • Use positive guidance techniques outlined in the parent handbook, incorporating YMCA values when working with children, families, and coworkers.
  • Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships with families, keeping parents/guardians informed about their child's growth and development, offering family resources, and utilizing all communication resources.
  • Ensure Aides are included in the planning, implementing, and evaluation of daily program activities.
  • Maintain all paperwork (attendance, developmental screenings, child assessments, accident/incident reports, monthly reports, annual professional goals and assessments) and submit to the Child Care Office in a timely manner.
  • Attend all staff meetings and family events as instructed by the Center Director.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude that reflects the YMCA at all times, upholding policies in the YMCA Personnel Policy handbook and Child Care Parent Handbook.
  • Perform Group Supervisor duties in their absence.
  • Perform any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
