About The Position

The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is a nonprofit, charitable, educational organization dedicated to youth development, aiming to help youth of all backgrounds. Its mission is to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need it most, to become responsible, productive, and caring citizens. The organization provides effective diverse programs and services to help young people grow into contributing human beings with necessary life skills. This Program Staff position, reporting to the Unit Director, involves assisting with providing fun and engaging social, recreational, and educational activities for children aged 5-13. The role also includes complying with EEC regulations. This is a summer seasonal position lasting eight weeks, from June 15th through August 21st, including one week of training. The role requires availability Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (8-hour days), flexibility, and reliable transportation. It is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in working with youth.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old with early childcare experience or 20 years old without experience, per EEC regulations
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Group leadership skills including an understanding of group dynamics
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities
  • Must have flexibility and reliable transportation
  • Required to pass a criminal offender record information check (CORI)
  • Required to pass a national background check
  • Required to be fingerprinted in accordance with EEC regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or in the process of obtaining such
  • A minimum of one year experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people
  • CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with providing fun and engaging social, recreational, and educational activities to children ages 5 -13
  • Comply with EEC regulations
  • Oversee special programs and/or events and/or participate in the implementation of other Clubhouse activities as necessary
  • Consult with parents concerning member and Clubhouse issues
  • Perform light cleaning
  • Assume other duties as assigned
