About The Position

The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is a nonprofit, charitable, educational organization recognized as a leading advocate for youth development, working to help youth of all backgrounds. Their mission is to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need them most, to become responsible, productive, and caring citizens. They provide girls and boys with effective diverse programs and services, demonstrating that caring adults can truly help young people grow into contributing human beings with the necessary skills for living. This position is a summer seasonal role for eight weeks, from June 15th through August 21st, including one week of training prior to program implementation. It is an excellent entry-level opportunity for motivated individuals interested in working with youth.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old with early childcare experience or 20 years old without experience, per EEC regulations
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Group leadership skills including an understanding of group dynamics
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities
  • Reliable transportation
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to pass a criminal offender record information check (CORI), a national background check and be fingerprinted in accordance with EEC regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or in the process of obtaining such
  • A minimum of one year experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people
  • CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with providing fun and engaging social, recreational, and educational activities to children ages 5 -13
  • Comply with EEC regulations
  • Oversee special programs and/or events and/or participate in the implementation of other Clubhouse activities as necessary
  • Consult with parents concerning member and Clubhouse issues
  • Perform light cleaning and assume other duties as assigned
