About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Program at Cape May City Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year. This part-time, non-exempt position follows the school calendar and offers opportunities for morning (7:00 - 8:45 am) and/or afternoon (2:30 - 5:45 pm) programs. The role is ideal for individuals who love working with children, possess energy, kindness, and patience, and enjoy encouraging children's curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Teamwork and effective communication with families are also key. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and committed to providing exceptional care. This role is particularly well-suited for parents seeking a schedule that aligns with the school day, education majors or future teachers looking for hands-on experience, and retirees who enjoy mentoring children. Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required
  • Candidates must successfully pass all required state background checks.
  • Requires the ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
  • The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues, along with a consistent record of reliability and punctuality.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
  • Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
  • Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
