About The Position

The Arc Erie County NY is a leading nonprofit supporting people with developmental & intellectual disabilities across Western New York, through innovative residential, educational, clinical and employment services. This role works under the close, ongoing supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related course, 1 year experience working with developmentally disabled population, and 2 years experience managing people with behavior problems in a school or professional setting.
  • Associate's degree in Psychology or related course, 2 years experience working with developmentally disabled population, and 2 years experience managing people with behavior problems in a school or professional setting.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, 3 years experience working with developmentally disabled population, and 3 years experience managing people with behavior problems in a school or professional setting.
  • First Aid Certification
  • CPR Certification
  • Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention-Revised training (SCIP) must be taken as provided by the agency within 90 days of hire and must be maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing behavioral interventions that help improve social, communication, and learning skills through positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Coordinating with the Behavior Intervention Specialist and/or Coordinator of Behavior Services in the development of behavior support plans and programs with an emphasis on proactive strategies for the management of individuals with challenging behaviors.
  • Intervening during individuals’ inappropriate and/ or potentially injurious behaviors in the least restrictive manner possible.
