About The Position

The School Adjustment Counselor will work within a Therapeutic Learning Program, focusing on the social-emotional growth of all learners. This role involves supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion for students and families, collaborating with colleagues on schoolwide prevention, and consulting with various stakeholders to address students' social-emotional needs. The counselor will provide individual and group counseling, academic and career advice, crisis intervention, and support for student re-entry and transitions. Additionally, the role includes developing and delivering workshops and training, participating in multidisciplinary teams, maintaining student records, and ensuring compliance with Section 504 procedures and IEP processes. The position also involves serving on interdepartmental committees and engaging in ongoing professional development.

  • Participate in reentry for mental health and discipline/restorative justice
  • Create and maintain student records, schedules, attendance, RTI interventions, etc. using electronic student information system
  • Coordinate referrals
  • Provide notices and document parental consent
  • Distribute Section 504 plans to appropriate staff and monitor the implementation of the plan
  • Coordinate annual reviews of each Section 504 plan
  • Coordinate periodic re-evaluations of all students eligible under Section 504 at least every three years
  • Participate in private school recommendation and application process where necessary
  • Serve as social-emotional representative to interdepartmental committees and teams to address school and district needs
  • Participate in professional learning to maintain current with counseling practices
  • Other duties as assigned
