About The Position

The Scholarship Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in advancing UCCS's fundraising objectives, enhancing donor engagement, and ensuring responsible stewardship of gifts through scholarship program administration of internal-facing components. Under minimal supervision, the Scholarship Program Coordinator will undertake a wide range of assignments that encompass substantial variety, complexity, and urgency and include (but not limited to) constituent outreach, project management, special fundraising projects, professional development events, and research tasks. The successful Scholarship Program Coordinator will be collaborative, creative, and outcomes-oriented with a team mindset providing the support necessary to grow philanthropic giving across all programs. Key skills needed include the ability to effectively build partnerships; maximize the utilization of resources available; an ability to build and implement a structure for managing multiple projects for stakeholders; support student success outcomes, and an understanding of processes to strengthen and grow the donor base through consistent positive engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or proven related experience supporting students, professional development programming, application processes, and events.
  • Experience leading and implementing initiatives in the fields of higher education, non-profits, office administration, customer service, sales, or other related fields is required.
  • Schedule flexibility and the ability to attend events/meetings in person is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Scholarship Programming (45%) Support multiple scholarship programs to develop and execute strategies to achieve assigned scholarship program objectives and requirements, including student retention, donor engagement, and community involvement.
  • Plan and implement orientations, professional development trainings, workshops, and networking events for scholarship recipients.
  • Utilizes personalized engagement, outreach and technology communications to ensure high scholar engagement.
  • Partner with campus departments, community organizations, and local businesses to provide scholars with networking opportunities and career resources.
  • Collaborate with UCCS Admissions and community colleges to increase scholarship applications and transfer student applications to the University
  • Strengthen connections with other local universities for joint scholarship recipient programming opportunities.
  • Monitor scholars' compliance with scholarship requirements and academic standing.
  • Oversee annual application reviews and selection processes for assigned scholarships.
  • Track programmatic spending for managed scholarships and exercise fiscal responsibility to ensure program compliance with university and grant guidelines.
  • Partner with Financial Aid and other student support areas of campus to effectively disperse scholarships according to donor intent.
  • Leads the creation of event plans with established guidelines while working closely with events colleague and student employees to implement events.
  • Donor and Community Relations (25%) Collaborate with advisory boards to promote and secure support for scholarship programs.
  • Work closely with advancement peers to further advance and support scholarship fundraising success through strong donor relations connectivity.
  • Maintain relationships with and represent the University to Foundations and Organizations that provide funding and scholarships.
  • Partner with campus departments, community organizations, and local businesses to provide scholars with networking opportunities and career resources.
  • Strengthen connections with other local universities for joint scholarship recipient programming opportunities.
  • Student Employee Support (15%) Supervise student hourly employee(s), providing training and guidance.
  • Identify projects for student employee(s) to support cross-functional activities.
  • Foster the personal growth and development of student employee(s).
  • Data Analysis and Reporting (10%) Analyze and compile data from various sources to create comprehensive reports.
  • Maintain and contribute accurate records of constituent interactions and scholarship program activities in the donor database.
  • Utilize scholarship database to support required reporting and donor relations tasks.
  • Prepare data reports and presentations for fundraising efforts.
  • General Support (5%) Prioritize Advancement goals and objectives in all work.
  • Assist with gift acknowledgment processes, scholarship administration, supply procurement, and expense reimbursement.
  • Manage special projects to facilitate donor engagement.
  • Represent the university at events to support Advancement objectives.
  • Act as a liaison with the university, providing information, research, and reports as needed.
  • Uphold the Donor Bill of Rights and maintain positive donor relationships with discretion and thoughtfulness.
