About The Position

Implements, coordinates, directs and maintains Western New Mexico University (WNMU) Foundation Scholarship Program. This includes preparing new scholarship agreements, maintaining and monitoring existing agreements, and keeping regular contact with donors, students, review committees, and associated constituents. The role serves as the primary liaison to campus departments such as financial aid and the business office to inform, create, track, review compliance, communicate award details, and confirm the application of scholarships to business statements. It involves close collaboration with the University Advancement team (Foundation and Alumni Affairs staff) to cultivate relationships, renew scholarship gifts, and secure new scholarship opportunities. The position also assists in developing financial literacy resources related to college payment, prepares the scholarship application process using Blackbaud Academic Works software, trains review committees, and coordinates the scholarship application review and selection process. Additionally, it involves reviewing scholarship recipient forms for compliance, maintaining records, coordinating with scholarship committees, determining annual available funds, and providing guidance to committees. The role also supports stewardship activities, promotes the Scholarship Program campaign, develops marketing strategies for high schools and students, and coordinates communication plans for scholarship information. Collaboration with the Advancement team extends to planning the annual Scholarship Luncheon and supporting various campaign activities, Thank-A-Thon efforts, Alumni Affairs, and other engagement initiatives. The position provides administrative support, including cross-training in contribution acceptance, deposit preparation, fund disbursements, and payment processes, as well as assisting with other University Advancement activities and special events. It contributes to the accomplishment of team goals aligned with the University's strategic plan and performs a broad range of administrative functions, ongoing personal and professional development, and maintains comprehensive communication.

Responsibilities

  • Implements, coordinates, directs and maintains the WNMU Foundation Scholarship Program.
  • Prepares new scholarship agreements, maintains and monitors existing scholarship agreements.
  • Maintains regular contact with donors, students, review committees and associated constituents.
  • Serves as the primary liaison to campus departments (financial aid, business office) for scholarship information, compliance, and award details.
