About The Position

The Schegistrar is responsible for performing all clerical functions necessary for the office operations, flow of patients, and documentation of records, maximizing the use of resources and equipment. This role focuses on scheduling and pre-registration for upcoming services to ensure a smooth patient process. The Schegistrar obtains orders from electronic faxes or physician offices for scheduled tests or procedures and ensures exams are scheduled accordingly. They provide clear and accurate instructions/information to patients regarding their upcoming procedures, verify demographic and insurance information, and ensure required authorizations are in place. The position involves entering complete and accurate data using appropriate computer systems, interviewing and gathering information from patients, doctor's offices, insurance companies, and government agencies. The Schegistrar also functions as a benefit specialist, explaining financial responsibilities to patients/guarantors and making payment arrangements. They identify underinsured/uninsured patients and provide information on financial assistance programs. When necessary, this role may cover registration duties and requires maintaining knowledge of the hospital's scheduling, admitting, transfer, and discharge functions. Responsibilities include checking in patients for exams and rooming patients as needed. This position serves patients, physician's offices, and other customers, requiring excellent communication and customer service skills. Tasks and duties are performed in all areas of assignment, with rotation of duties and shifts as needed.

Responsibilities
