Requirements

Requires a high school diploma
Knowledge of Practice Management and Word Processing Software
Computer background/knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology is helpful.

Nice To Haves

Graduation from an accredited MA program or CNA program would be preferred.
Prefer one year of prior surgery scheduling or medical office experience.
Knowledge of surgical procedures is desirable.

Responsibilities

Schedule patients for surgery, completing facility paperwork, and giving patient instructions
Schedule patients for diagnostic tests, including bone scans, MRI, CT, EMG/NCS, ESI, ultrasounds, etc. Completing all appropriate screening sheets to schedule
Review patient's meds and health history to determine pre-admission testing
Identify potential medical/surgical risks and problems and communicating those to the physician.
Recognize medication types and interactions to identify medications that must be discontinued before surgery.
Schedule appropriate medical and cardiac clearances.
Schedule patients for follow-up appointments and tests.
Other duties as assigned – i.e., restocking
Follow physician protocols for scheduling appointments and surgeries.
