About The Position

Responsible for the prompt, courteous and accurate scheduling of patient appointments. The Scheduling Coordinator will monitor the fax work queue for incoming requests from non-Sturdy providers and schedule examinations with the provider's office/patients. They will work with Imaging technologists to ensure appropriate scheduling of exams/procedures and coordinate multiple exam requests to ensure exams are performed in a timely fashion. This role requires the ability to multi-task, follow-up on work in progress, and utilize the EMR to process requests to book patients for their imaging/EEG studies. The coordinator will notify referring providers of any issues or questions that may arise in the booking process and resolve them. They will also confirm that appropriate insurance preauthorizations have been obtained and document detailed information. Additionally, the role involves contacting patients via telephone to inform them of their scheduled appointment date(s) and time(s), relaying any appropriate exam requirements and/or preps, and notifying the referring provider's office of the patient's appointment information. Answering incoming calls and assisting patients and referring provider offices in booking examinations is also a key function.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of medical experience, preferably in a hospital-based Imaging department
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English
  • Excellent communication, customer service and organization skills in interacting with various members of the healthcare team and/or patients
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and prioritize as needed
  • Ability to problem solve and address scheduling related issues
  • Proficiency in technology, including computer, scanner, phone, fax and copy machines
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.
  • Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with medical terminology, preferably Imaging related
  • Familiarity with Meditech
  • Prior experience with Cerner a plus
