In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Scheduler is responsible for quality patient care in which orders are received by phone, fax and by electronic lists through the EMR. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times. This role involves maintaining knowledge of all modalities and scheduling exams/visits for Memorial Health System, including PT/OT, Speech, Infusion, Physician offices, Radiology, Vascular, Cath lab, Oncology, Sleep Lab, and EMG. The Scheduler will book appointments for patients as ordered by providers, interpreting written and verbal orders, and ensuring adherence to scheduling policies. They will also verify insurance, copay or coinsurance, and pre-register patients when appropriate, working with PFA's and the precertification department as needed. The position requires learning computer programs used in centralized scheduling and completing required competencies. Additional duties include processing and filing correspondences, reports, office notes, and scanned orders into patients EHR. In clinic offices, the Scheduler will maintain office records, prepare patient charts, perform receptionist duties, handle clerical functions, and maintain files to ensure the efficient functioning of the medical practice.
