Schedules all procedures for the Operating Room, Central Scheduling, Ambulatory Surgery including the Treatment, Cystoscopy and Endoscopy Suites. Reports to: Admitting Manager. This role requires maintaining knowledge of all operative software and maintenance routines, scheduling all elective surgical procedures, and promoting a positive and professional image. The Scheduler is responsible for effective and efficient OR scheduling and utilization. They must attend all required Safety Training programs and understand their responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards. Following the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens is essential. Demonstrating respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees is crucial to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Promoting effective working relations and working effectively as part of a department/unit team, both inter- and intra-departmentally, is necessary to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives. The role also involves participating in the monitoring of operative information system quality control and its evaluation. Accurately identifying real/potential problems affecting the service and implementing solutions with follow-through and communication is key. The Scheduler prepares and distributes the surgery schedule, operates a computer terminal, and schedules all appointments that require prior authorization, maintaining prior authorization lists to ensure they are obtained prior to patients' arrival.
