About The Position

Under general supervision, this role is responsible for the development and implementation of complex schedules for transit service and operator work assignments. The position compiles data for analytical reports regarding passenger activity and route performance. It also assists in analyzing potential service changes and provides operating cost and feasibility information, as well as operator and vehicle requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in planning, statistics, transportation, business administration or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to express oneself through written and oral communication.
Strong analytical and advanced statistical skills are required.
Four years related experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree.

Knowledge of the MARTA service area is desired.

Responsibilities

Provides economic analysis of existing and proposed bus and rail service.
Develops efficient and effective bus/rail schedules satisfying forecasted passenger demand while utilizing the optimal resource requirements.
Creates realistic and efficient operators’ work assignments utilizing complex optimizing routines and specialized software, adhering to established work rules and union contracts.
Collects, compiles and analyzes ridership, traffic and performance data from a variety of sources including Automatic Vehicle Locator, Automatic Passenger Counters, manual ride/point checks, faregate entries, farebox data and personal observations.
Designs bus and rail information into public information media that effectively communicates the service provided.
Assists in analyzing passenger data and operational reports to determine appropriate service requirements and reports the efficiency of the service provided, providing recommendations for reported problems.
Performs ride checks on bus/rail for running time analysis.
Performs other related duties as assigned, including Transit Ambassador assignments.
