About The Position

The Scenic Painter provides comprehensive scenic painting services across Universal Orlando Resort to help maintain and expand the resort. The role involves preparing surfaces and materials, completing scenic painting tasks, and maintaining painting documentation, tools, and work areas. The position also includes following established environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures and participating in related training and team member activities.

Requirements

High school degree or GED.
At least three years of experience for consideration at the 1st Tier, or at least five years for consideration at the 2nd Tier; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in visual arts, specializing in painting, drawing, or sculpture.

Responsibilities

Gather and prepare the information, tools, and items needed for assigned painting tasks.
Create faux finishes, including wood graining, marbleizing, aging, sponging, and rag rolling.
Match colors in the field; select and mix paint for assigned work.
Create, maintain, and use painting documentation.
Draw, lay out, and paint backdrops and murals using a brush or airbrush.
Paint or airbrush two-dimensional and three-dimensional fields and props.
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, caulking, applying putty, sanding, patching, priming, and applying base paint with a brush or roller.
Clean the paint area, including collecting tarps, scraping, removing tape, cleaning brushes, cleaning spills, resealing paint cans, and cleaning paint buckets.
Store equipment and tools in designated storage areas.
Follow established Universal Orlando environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures, complete training, and participate in team member involvement activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
