About The Position

The Scenic Painter provides comprehensive scenic painting services resort-wide to help maintain and expand Universal Orlando. The role involves preparing surfaces, selecting and mixing colors, creating scenic finishes, and painting backdrops, murals, fields, and props using brushes or airbrushes. The Scenic Painter also maintains painting documentation, cleans work areas, and stores tools and equipment. Team members are expected to follow Universal Orlando’s Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures, training, and participation activities.

Requirements

High school degree or GED required.
At least three years of experience for consideration at the 1st Tier.
At least five years of experience for consideration at the 2nd Tier.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in visual arts, specializing in painting, drawing, or sculpture.

Responsibilities

Gather and prepare the information, tools, and items needed to complete assigned painting tasks.
Create faux finishes, including wood graining, marbleizing, aging, sponging, and rag rolling.
Match colors in the field, select colors, and mix paint for assigned work.
Create, maintain, and use painting documentation.
Draw, lay out, and paint backdrops and murals using a brush or airbrush.
Paint or airbrush two-dimensional and three-dimensional fields and props.
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, caulking, applying putty, sanding, patching, priming, and applying a base coat with a brush or roller.
Clean the paint area, including collecting tarps, scraping, removing tape, cleaning brushes, cleaning spills, resealing paint cans, and cleaning paint buckets.
Store equipment and tools in designated storage areas.
Follow established Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures, complete training, and participate in team member involvement activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
