This position involves building and painting theatrical scenery, furniture, and hanging masking curtains for all UWS Theatre productions. The role also requires maintaining the organization and safety of the scene shop and performance stage. Student employees will work with various professional shop tools such as drills, saws, staplers, nailers, sanders, and painting products. Responsibilities include lifting and moving lumber and stage scenery, and climbing ladders. The average work week is 10 hours, with flexibility for student availability. Holidays and college breaks are unscheduled, and the theatre shops and box office are closed during these times. Some weekend work is scheduled for the season, typically one Saturday and Sunday per production, for construction and dismantling. Performances run Thursday-Sunday for two weekends, with four shows annually (two main stage and two alternative productions per semester). Performance and special work dates are scheduled in advance and posted on the UWS Theatre Student Employee Canvas portal.
