About The Position

Idaho Forest Group is looking for an experienced Scaler to work in our Log Yard at our Moyie Springs location! A Scaler at IFG is responsible for accurately measuring, grading, and recording log volume and quality to ensure proper valuation and processing. This role requires excellent attention to detail, knowledge of industry grading standards, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Requirements

HS Diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in log scaling, Log Yard operation or forestry
Idaho Log Scaling Certificate required.
Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with scaling equipment and measurement techniques.
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).

Responsibilities

Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs.
Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
Accurately measure logs, assess quality and grade following state board scaling criteria and company standards.
Maintain accurate records of measurements and assessments.
Communicate quality defects to the supervisor and resource team.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Participate in inventory management and reporting activities.
Provide training and guidance to junior scaling personnel as needed.
