About The Position

The Scalehouse Attendant serves as the first point of contact for customers depositing waste at a WM facility. The role calculates customer payments, checks incoming loads for safety and inappropriate materials, and helps ensure customers and employees follow safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment. It also involves customer direction and service, maintaining the Scale House, and completing administrative tasks and reports. This is an on-site, full-time position scheduled Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays. The shift starts at 6:00 AM. Overtime may be needed. The job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED (accredited) is listed as a preferred qualification.
Have or be willing to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if required for business air travel or access to federal property.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, direct customers and other traffic, and answer questions accurately.
Correctly calculate payments for customers.
Ensure incoming garbage loads are safe and contain no inappropriate materials.
Ensure customers and employees conduct business safely and wear required personal protective equipment.
Provide general upkeep of the Scale House.
Complete administrative tasks, including regular filing and required reports.
Keep the immediate supervisor informed of problems or matters requiring attention.
Attend company-sponsored training and meetings as directed.
Work overtime as needed.
Perform other assigned duties, including data entry and minor customer service responsibilities.
Approach encounters with employees, customers, and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
