Requirements

  • Strong Attention to Detail with focus on accuracy in logging and documentation.
  • Effective Communication Skills for interacting with drivers, vendors, and site team members.
  • Basic Computer Skills including data entry and use of tracking systems.
  • Ability to Multitask and Work in a Fast-Paced Environment with constant traffic flow.
  • Customer Service Orientation with a professional and respectful demeanor.
  • Ability to Follow Procedures and Enforce Site Rules consistently.
  • Problem-Solving Skills to address issues with documentation, scheduling, or traffic flow.
  • Dependability and Accountability in managing a critical control point for the facility.
  • 1–3 years of experience in clerical, logistics, yard, or gate operations preferred.
  • Experience working in an industrial, transportation, or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with shipping/receiving documentation such as bills of lading or manifests is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of radio communication and multi-line phone systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Control Site Access — Monitor and manage all inbound and outbound traffic, verifying authorization and directing drivers to appropriate areas.
  • Process Inbound and Outbound Loads — Check in drivers, collect and verify paperwork, and enter load details accurately into system or logs.
  • Maintain Gate Logs and Documentation — Record all truck movements, visitors, and deliveries to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Verify Documentation — Ensure bills of lading, manifests, and other required documents are complete and accurate before entry or exit.
  • Coordinate with Yard and Operations Teams — Communicate with yard, dock, and production teams regarding incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Direct Traffic Flow — Guide drivers safely through the facility and ensure adherence to traffic and safety protocols.
  • Enforce Safety and Security Procedures — Ensure all visitors and drivers follow site safety rules, including PPE requirements and restricted access areas.
  • Provide Customer and Driver Support — Answer questions, provide directions, and maintain a professional and helpful presence at the gate.
  • Monitor Yard Activity — Observe site activity at the gate and report any safety, security, or operational concerns to management.
  • Operate Basic Systems and Equipment — Use computer systems, radios, phones, and gate controls to manage daily operations.
  • Maintain Clean and Organized Work Area — Ensure the gate office and surrounding area remain clean, organized, and professional.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support yard and site operations.
