About The Position

Alter Trading Corporation, a 125+ year old, privately held company with 74 scrap metal processing facilities throughout eight states in the Midwest and Southern regions, is searching for an energetic, detail-oriented Scale Administrator (temporary position) for its operations located in Reeds Spring, MO. Alter is committed to our customers by being the best source of both ferrous and non-ferrous metal and by giving great customer service. Our corporate support center and marketing is located in St. Louis, MO, with Trading Offices located in St. Louis and in Hong Kong. Under supervision, oversee, facilitate, process and maintain accurate records for the yard of scrap materials received and/or shipped. Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Scale Administrator performs duties required to oversee, facilitate, process and maintain accurate records for the yard of scrap materials bought at the scale.

Requirements

• Math aptitude necessary
• Must be able to multi-task when handling customers and vendors in person, on the phone, etc.
• Must have the ability to develop effective working relationships with customers and vendors.
• Cash handling experience necessary
• Must be able to pass a background check, credit check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• General knowledge of difference between ferrous and non-ferrous material preferred.

Responsibilities

• Visually verify material on scale; read weight in computer
• Visually verify material type; enter code in computer
• File appropriate paperwork to support scheduled payments to be made
• Complete hands-on duties at scale to keep area clean and all materials organized
• Work with Zebra tag printer and tag all packaged materials ready to ship with correct codes
• Help customers in a timely fashion
• Send all paperwork/documentation to office for later reference
• Perform other duties as assigned or required
