About The Position

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,560 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits. The Operational Technology (OT) System Administrator is responsible for system-wide EOL management for SCADA assets as well as managing and maintaining the hardware, software, programs and networks that support industrial control systems (ICS) and critical infrastructure within the organization. This is a 24/7/365 position required to be available in case of emergency. This position also coordinates SCADA projects, provides daily support to plant operations, PLC & SCADA programming and performs complex daily OT tasks with DWR SCADA Division. This position requires elevated Security Clearance at the time of hiring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, Information Technology or closely related field or Three years of experience in the Computer / Process Automation Industry. or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as those listed above.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Elevated Security Clearance at the time of hiring.
  • Public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience managing IT/OT systems, such as Wonderware SCADA, DCS, Allen Bradley PLCs, Servers etc.
  • Experience in both IT and OT environments is a significant plus.
  • Prior experience in industrial cybersecurity is highly valuable.
  • Experience as a system admin managing and maintaining IT /OT Hardware and Software in a large system.
  • Proficient with P&ID, MS office and PDF editor.
  • CompTIA Security+ or A+ Certification
  • Cisco Certified Network Assoc (CCNA) for networking proficiency
  • Windows server administrator certification

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain OT systems including SCADA, DCS, PLCs, HMI, and other industrial control systems.
  • Configure and maintain OT network architecture, firewalls and switches ensuring reliable communication between devices.
  • Implement cybersecurity policies and procedures, conduct vulnerability assessments, and ensure systems are protected from cyber threats.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in OT systems, hardware, and software.
  • Manage the integration of OT systems, ensuring smooth data flow and operational continuity.
  • Ensure OT systems meet regulatory standards (NIST, IEC 62443).
  • Maintain system documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, PLC & Application programming and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Continuously monitor system performance, ensuring uptime, availability, and efficiency.
  • Work with the engineering, IT, and operations teams to optimize OT system performance.
