About The Position

The Small Business Administration (SBA) Banker II is responsible for leading business development with a primary focus on SBA lending and deposit growth while maintaining market leadership presence in the local community. The SBA Banker is responsible for aggressively soliciting and servicing prospective and current clients producing SBA 7a, 504 and USDA loans as well as generating and managing a portfolio of business and corresponding relationships, while seeking new accounts through calling efforts, marketing, and referrals. Consistently gains the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 7+ years in business development and/or financial services experience required.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • PC Proficiency in Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, and Smartphone devices as well as Microsoft Office Suite software.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in a financial related discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years of directly related SBA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development with a primary focus on SBA lending and deposit growth.
  • Aggressively solicit and service prospective and current clients producing SBA 7a, 504 and USDA loans.
  • Generate and manage a portfolio of business and corresponding relationships.
  • Seek new accounts through calling efforts, marketing, and referrals.
  • Establish a consistent SBA business development cadence including call planning, follow-up, client retention calls, new client prospecting, and outbound telephone calling efforts.
  • Network at events.
  • Develop a complete understanding of all financial products, target markets, and solutions with a strong emphasis on SBA and USDA credit, fee income, operating accounts, and treasury/cash management structure.
  • Maintain and expand a Center of Influence (COI) base of community and business leaders.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with internal line of business leaders.
  • Perform sales, credit analysis, proper loan structuring (SBA loan packaging and submission), client interviewing, and character judgment.
  • Source and build new business relationships.
  • Coordinate the sale and execution of SBA guarantee to general non-interest income.
  • Oversee and manage the technology platforms and vendor relationships that streamline the SBA Loan Process.
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of all business credit facilities including Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Lines of Credit, Equipment Financing/Leasing, Factoring, and SBA Financing.
  • Structure proper loan terms and products based on business need, useful life, business growth, debt consolidation, and transferring personal debt to business.
  • Perform basic understanding of business and personal financial statements and tax returns to identify credit worthiness and risk potential.
  • Identify short- and long-term credit facility needs based on business sales cycle, type of business, growth plans, and business strategy.
  • Educate prospective clients about the Bank’s underwriting guidelines, SBA programs, and all applicable government regulations.
  • Service, modify, and/or restructure existing loans as needed.
  • Monitor existing clients’ credit worthiness and repayment activities.
  • Direct back-office personnel in resolving credit problems, delinquent payment issues, and other related affairs.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, loan closers, and other involved staff to assure timely loan closing and funding activities.
  • Balance business needs with customer requests while managing potential risk to the bank.
  • Act as a mentor to junior level SBA Lenders.
  • Adhere to policy & procedure of Seacoast Bank and comply with BSA/AML/OFAC regulations and guidelines.
  • Adhere to Seacoast Bank’s Code of Conduct.
  • Accept loan applications and collect all required applicant information while following Fair Lending performance standards and ensuring fair and equal treatment to all applicants.
  • Practice ethical sales behaviors in accordance with the Associate Code of Conduct and Sales Practices Policy.
  • Act in the best interest of the applicant and their credit needs.
  • Proactively help to resolve customer concerns in a timely, professional, and positive manner, escalating issues as needed.
