3rd SHIFT SAW OPERATOR - Naugatuck, CT
About The Position
Pennsylvania Steel Company, a leading distributor of steel and aluminum, is seeking a dependable and personable individual for a full-time, permanent Saw Operator position on the second shift at their Naugatuck, CT branch. The company has been in business since 1972 and has expanded to 11 locations, becoming one of the largest Steel Service Centers in the eastern United States. This role involves operating automatic cold saws and band saws, reading job specifications, and ensuring material requirements are met. The operator will also be responsible for monitoring machine operation for accuracy, performing quality inspections using micrometers and calipers, and prioritizing workload to meet customer and company goals.
Requirements
- Ability to read micrometers and tape measures
- Forklift exp.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Detail oriented and able to multi-task
- Familiar with basic computer systems
Responsibilities
- Operating automatic cold saw and band saw
- Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Ability to work with quality inspection tools including micrometers and calipers and perform basic dimensional tolerances.
- Monitor machine operation for continued accuracy throughout cutting processes
- Prioritize workload to meet customer requirements and company performance goals
