About The Position

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking a skilled Saw Operator for their 2nd shift. The role involves operating machinery to produce quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings. The ideal candidate will follow production instructions, blueprints, and safety protocols to ensure precise and high-quality output in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.

Requirements

  • Average math skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English.
  • Ability to complete simple logs and reports in English.
  • Physically able to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
  • Able to work scheduled hours and comply with the company’s timekeeping policy and all other company policies.
  • Able to consistently stand for an entire shift in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
  • Knowledge of saws and material is a plus.
  • General mechanical knowledge is a plus.
  • Work closely with other team members, including supervisors, to optimize production processes and implement improvements.
  • Attention to detail is essential for maintaining quality standards.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to dependability and consistent performance.
  • Detail-oriented with the flexibility to respond effectively to shifting production demands.

Responsibilities

  • Follow production instructions, including process sheets, blueprints, or other written/verbal instructions.
  • Operate machinery, including setting up and maneuvering large, awkward, or heavy parts manually or with a crane.
  • Monitor the production process to ensure machines function correctly and products meet quality standards.
  • Perform inspections and measurements of finished products to verify they meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
  • Adhere to cleanliness and safety protocols, including wearing PPE and following safety regulations.
  • Ensure the work area is clean and organized.
  • Assist in other areas or departments as needed.
