About The Position

The Saw Operator will be responsible for operating various machinery to cut and prepare metal components according to specifications. This role requires attention to quality, safety, and maintaining an organized work area. The operator will use measuring equipment and interpret blueprints to ensure parts are cut to the correct length and angle. Responsibilities also include material handling, inventory management, and reporting equipment issues.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of manufacturing or machine operating experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Blueprint reading experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC cutoff saw, pencil grinders, disk grinders, cutoff wheels, hand drills, and tumblers.
  • Use basic measuring equipment such as calipers, steel rules, straightedge, and combination square to verify position of metal components.
  • Apply a basic understanding of blueprints and tolerances that relate to assigned tasks.
  • Cut sheet/rod to proper length and angle.
  • Move raw material to the saw with the use of an overhead crane.
  • Work in a manner in which quality of work and safety while performing work are top priorities.
  • Keep work area organized and as clean as possible while working and clean up all tooling, machinery and work area when finished with each job.
  • Notify direct supervisor of any equipment or tooling that is damaged or not working properly.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and notify supervisor when raw material is low.
  • Other functions as assigned by supervisor or manufacturing management.
