2nd shift Saw Operator
About The Position
Apex Geotech Solutions is hiring a Saw Operator to cut raw materials according to production specifications while ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality. The role involves preparing steel, aluminum, and other materials with saws and cutting equipment, using work orders, production schedules, and drawings to determine requirements. The position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to company safety and quality standards. The role is based at one of the listed locations: Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; Brookville, Pennsylvania; Kilgore, Texas; or Houston, Texas. The work takes place in an industrial/manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, operate saws and handling tools with manual dexterity, and perform repetitive motions.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of experience operating industrial saws or similar machinery (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Operate saws and cutting equipment to prepare materials according to work orders and drawings.
- Measure, mark, and cut steel, aluminum, or other materials to precise dimensions.
- Review production schedules, blueprints, and work orders to determine material requirements.
- Inspect materials before and after cutting for defects, correct length, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of materials cut, scrap, and completed work.
- Follow company safety protocols, including proper PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of saws and work areas.
- Communicate with supervisors and team members about production needs or equipment issues.
- Assist with material handling, inventory organization, and general shop duties as assigned.
