Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts and potential overtime.
  • Qualified and trained to perform Lock Out Tag Out on specified machinery.
  • Ability to perform setup of specified saws.
  • Ability to cut 18 portion hams per minute.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or roll product weighing up to 40 pounds continuously.
  • Ability to complete company-required paperwork.
  • Ability to monitor machine operation and settings and make adjustments.
  • Ability to position product on the saw belt and measure angles precisely.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring continuous/repetitive movement.
  • Ability to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
  • Ability to work with a knife (if trained).
  • Ability to work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
  • Ability to work in a wet and humid environment.
  • Ability to work while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work around strong smells/odors.
  • Ability to climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively.
  • Ability to walk long distances.
  • Ability to perform repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs, single lifting of heavy objects up to 60 lbs or lifting with mechanical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with hand tools, knives, machinery, and other equipment to process meat products.
  • Perform essential production tasks and support coworkers.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient production line.
  • Ensure products reach families across America.
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out on specified machinery (ABS, Slab, Blade-stop, 5 saw, Grasseli, Shank saw, Neckbone Chunker, Grote).
  • Set and adjust thickness for roasts (Slab saw cut) and steaks (5 saw cuts) according to WIP code and product specification.
  • Set thickness for by-products (Grasseli and Grote) per Product Specifications.
  • Perform setup of the 5 saw, slab saw, blade-stop, ABS saws, Grote, Shank saw, Neckbone Chunker, and Grasseli.
  • Cut 18 portion hams per minute.
  • Lift, push, pull, or roll product weighing up to 40 pounds continuously.
  • Complete all company-required paperwork for quality checks, product accounting, and other records.
  • Monitor machine operation and settings, making adjustments to ensure standards and minimize waste.
  • Contact supervisor to resolve difficulties beyond trained/authorized capabilities.
  • Position product on the saw belt, using a laser for precise cuts on hams.
  • Precisely measure the angle of the shank to avoid product downgrading.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Perform tasks requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms.
  • Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
  • Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
  • Work with a knife (if trained).
  • Work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
  • Work in a wet and humid environment.
